Accounts Assistant (Accounts Payable/Payroll), London HQ

We are looking to secure the services of a new Accounts Assistant to join our team. Reporting into the Financial Controller the Accounts Assistant is responsible managing and processing accounts payable transactions, including supplier invoices, employee expenses, and payroll inputs, while ensuring adherence to financial controls. 

The role also includes providing financial information and analysis to the business and covering for an Accounts Assistant when needed.

As the Accounts Assistant you'll be accountable for the following:

Accounts Payable

  • Co-ordinate the AP mailbox, handling invoices and queries from suppliers
  • Process new supplier details by conducting financial due diligence, including bank and CIS (Construction Industry Scheme) verification
  • Co-ordinate and process supplier invoices, ensuring invoices are approved and processed efficiently
  • Prepare supplier account reconciliations and propose payments to suppliers

Month-End Tasks

  • Complete AP month-end closing activities, ensuring all financial data is accurate and up-to-date
  • Prepare monthly reports on accounts payable activities and performance

Payments

  • Process other non-AP payments as required, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies
  • Process employee expense claims, ensuring timely and accurate reimbursement

Payroll

  • Prepare monthly payroll inputs, providing necessary data for the payroll bureau to process payroll accurately and on time

Skills & experience required of the Accounts Assistant role

  • Part or qualified AAT or equivalent
  • Typically, at least 2 years' experience in AP role
  • Experience of handling high volumes of transactions
  • Experience of working on own initiative and doing A-Z in AP
  • Experience working effectively within a team and supporting other areas.

Advantageous

  • Experience of working in a social housing provider
  • Experience of Aareon QL Accounting Software
  • Experience of sending payroll inputs to payroll bureau- if not, training provided
  • CIS compliance experience
  • Excel Pivot Tables, v-lookups.
