Senior Management Accountant, London HQ
We’re looking to secure the services of a new Senior Management Accountant. Reporting to the Finance Director, the Senior Management Accountant is responsible for financial reporting, internal controls, compliance, planning and providing insightful analysis to support decision-making.
As a Senior Management Accountant you’ll oversee a team of seven financial professionals and be accountable for the following:
Financial Control Systems: maintain and improve robust financial control systems, identifying and mitigating risks to prevent errors, waste, and fraud
Team Leadership: lead, develop, and mentor the finance team to ensure high performance
Financial Planning: prepare and manage long-term financial plans and forecasts aligned with business goals.
Key requirements for the Senior Management Accountant role:
Financial Control:
- Maintain and improve a robust system of financial control, ensuring compliance with legal and financial regulations
- Identify and mitigate new risks to avoid errors, waste, and fraud
- Deliver continuous improvement of financial systems and processes to support growth strategies.
Team Leadership:
- Lead, develop, and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous learning.
Month-End Close:
- Co-ordinate the month-end close process and approve General Journals
- Review and draft commentary for the Monthly Business Report to agreed deadlines.
- Financial Planning:
- Prepare the Annual, five year, and 30 year plans and quarterly reforecasts
- Collaborate with operational teams to align financial strategy with business goals regarding property investment and maintenance.
Cashflow Management:
- Produce cashflow statements and monitor liquidity on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis.
- Produce the annual statutory accounts report.
Audit and Compliance:
- Liaise with external auditors and review/prepare PBC schedules for the statutory audit.
Tax and Payroll:
- Prepare all tax returns and supporting schedules, including PAYE, CT, and CIS
- Review and approve monthly payroll, expenses, and pensions, post journals, and prepare payment files.
Reporting:
- Produce and communicate high-quality reports and commentaries to both Finance and non-Finance staff.
Skills & experience required of the Senior Management Accountant role:
- A higher education qualification (e.g. Degree)
- CCAB/CIMA accountancy qualification preferable with 2-3 years PQE
- Experienced in the preparation and presentation of reports and analysis related to property investments and related cash flow to internal finance and non-finance staff
- Liquidity and cash flow forecasting experience relating to property acquisitions
- Demonstrable experience at managing a finance team
- Highly numerate/analytical, a proficient user of MS Office suite with high level of Excel skills incl. Pivot Tables, v-lookups and beyond. Experienced with property management financial systems.
- Experience in preparing audit schedules and facilitating auditors with their enquiries.
- Personable, collaborative with leadership qualities, a fluent communicator – written and oral
- High achiever, ambitious, and an ability to work under pressure and manage multiple deadlines.
