Sparrow appoints Anita Khan as Managing Director

Wednesday, 23 April 2025

Sparrow Shared Ownership Limited has appointed Anita Khan to lead the new business as its Managing Director.

Anita, who has a wealth of experience in senior leadership roles at housing associations, joins from Tower Hamlets Community Housing (THCH), where she has been CEO for more than three years.

Anita recently led THCH into a merger with G15 housing association Hyde, driven by a desire by THCH to find a partner that could help make lasting improvements to residents’ homes, communities and services.

Prior to THCH, Anita spent more than five years at Settle, where she was Director of Housing before being promoted to Executive Director of Customer Services.

Sparrow was launched in August 2024 following the purchase of 3,000 shared ownership homes from Sage Housing in a £405m deal – representing the biggest shared ownership transaction since the scheme’s creation.

This latest announcement from Sparrow comes following the appointment of Jonathan Wallbank in December to Sparrow’s board. Chaired by David Avery, the board comprises Amanda Davies, Eamon Ray, Andrew Rose and Sarah Wall.

Anita joins to lead the fast-growing team at Sparrow, headquartered in London, while serving shared owners across the country.

David Avery, chair of the board at Sparrow Shared Ownership, said: “Anita’s appointment is another significant milestone for Sparrow as we continue on our journey as a new shared ownership provider.

“Anita’s track record speaks volumes – she’s a proven leader and highly respected across the sector. Her knowledge and expertise will be crucial in helping us achieve our vision for Sparrow and supporting people on the journey to owning their home.”

Anita Khan said: “Sparrow is an exciting prospect and one I’m honoured to lead. I’ve been hugely enthused by the vision of the board, the commitment to putting the customer at the heart of everything we do and what Sparrow represents for the shared ownership sector and wider affordable housing sector.

“I’m very much looking forward to getting started, and to meeting our shared owners and my new team.”
