Sparrow Shared Ownership appoints Jonathan Wallbank as independent NED

The appointment, by the 3,000 home Registered Provider, completes the board, which features a wealth of industry experts. Chaired by David Avery, it comprises Amanda Davies, Eamon Ray, Andrew Rose and Sarah Wall.

Jonathan, who is a certified chartered accountant, brings a wealth of experience in the social housing sector. He is currently Group Finance Director at Orbit Group and has just completed his term of office as an independent member of the Board at Rooftop Housing, where he was deputy chair of the Audit and Risk Committee.

This latest announcement follows Sparrow’s launch in August following the purchase of 3,000 shared ownership homes in a £405m deal, the biggest in shared ownership since the scheme’s creation in 1990. 

Commenting on the appointment, David Avery, Sparrow chair, said: “We’re extremely pleased to welcome Jonathan to complete our board. His extensive experience in leading and guiding large registered providers will add value and further expertise to Sparrow’s board.

“As Chair of the ARAC, his insight will help determine strategy and direction, as well as identifying and assessing risks and developing mitigation strategies. I am delighted to welcome him and eager to work closely with him as we look to the future.”
