We’re a new shared ownership provider.

Shared ownership is a way to buy a percentage of a home (or equity stake) through a mortgage, while paying rent on the part you don’t own. Over time, you can buy a bigger percentage of your home, known as staircasing. For many people, shared ownership is a great way to help them on their way to owning a home. Sparrow is here to support you on that journey.

Sparrow is a fully regulated Registered Provider.

Sparrow Shared Ownership Limited (Sparrow) was launched in August 2024 as a Registered Provider (No. 4636), regulated by the Regulator of Social Housing.

What makes us a bit different is that we were launched with an exclusive and direct investment from a single pension fund. The regulator requires all Registered Providers to be well governed, financially viable, and to provide safe and good quality homes for their customers.

Partnership built on honesty and transparency.

As a Registered Provider, we need to meet consumer standards around transparency, quality and accountability. We need to make sure you have the information you need at your fingertips. And because we are investing in our customers’ homes using people’s pensions, we have a duty to act in a responsible and equitable way. We are accountable to both our shared owners and to pensioners here in the UK.

Customer services to empower your decision making.

Our mission is to provide Sparrow shared owners with a great home that acts as a foundation for living, helping them on their journey in life. We want customers to be the ones making the important decisions about their homes – from buying a bigger share of their home (known as Staircasing) to choosing to sell their Sparrow home.

The feeling is mutual.

We see shared ownership as a two-way street. As part of that, we will consider our customers’ interests and take decisions for the long-term. We will treat all customers with respect in all interactions, provide clear, accessible and timely information, invite scrutiny from our customers and be held accountable. And we’ll be held to account by our customers – including through our Customer Scrutiny Panel.

The Sparrow ethos.

Our three corporate values are integrity, trust and excellence. This means considering our customers’ interests first and being accountable to them, while also setting high standards for ourselves. We’re committed to creating and nurturing a culture that embraces diversity, equity and belonging.

Sparrow believes in excellence.

One of our core values at Sparrow is excellence. We set high standards for ourselves – and we want our customers to hold us to that. We know there will be times when things don’t go to plan – that’s life, right? But we believe what matters most is how we respond in those situations, and that our customers get the quality service they deserve.

We see ourselves and you as partners.

A Sparrow home provides you with the foundation, the stability but also the flexibility you need as you embark on your home ownership journey. Life will have its ups and downs. We’ll be here through the good times, and the tough times too. Our investment horizon is measured in decades, so we intend to be here for as long as you choose to live in your home.
